Sony has updated the line of memory cards in XQD format. If the previous family (H series) transmitted data at a speed of no more than 125 Mbit / s, then the new generation ( S series ) can accelerate the speed to 168 Mbit / s.
According to the manufacturer, S series XQD memory cards are ideal for the Nikon D4 camera, which in one series makes 108 shots in RAW format. This is enough to remove the one hundred meter male run from start to finish with a frame rate of 10fps.
Speed of data backup XQD S series has increased by more than 30%. In August, users will get a new version of the program File Rescue, which can restore deleted AVCHD-, 3D-, MOV- and RAW-files in a matter of seconds. Updating the drivers will allow the card readers to use XQD in full force.
High-speed Sony XQD S 64 GB cards will be put on the worldwide market this month. The version on 32 GB debuts later (September or October). The estimated cost of new memory cards for the Japanese market is $ 752 (64 GB) and $ 500 (32 GB). For the rest of the world, prices have not been set yet.
For comparison, at one time the H series memory card on 32 GB went on sale with a price tag of 230 dollars.
