Planar began selling their first HD projector with three chips based on DLP technology called the Viper. The projector has a real resolution of 1280 × 720 and is able to project an image at a distance of 2.75m. Planar claims that the Viper has a contrast ratio of 10,000: 1 and a brightness of 2,000 lumens - one of the highest characteristics for projectors of this class. Customers can optionally order a projector from one of 5 lenses to choose from - with a powerful zoom and lens shift that can be controlled remotely. The device has RS-232 ports and two HDMI 1.3.
