SanDisk today announced the availability of its 4 GB Memory Stick Micro (M2) memory cards. The cards are compatible with the latest generation Sony Ericsson cell phones, including the popular Cybershot and Walkman lines.
The M2 format is a joint development of SanDisk and Sony Ericsson for multimedia cell phones from the Japanese-Swedish group. The size of the M2 format memory card is only 15x12.5x1.2 mm, which makes it the second in the world in size. At the moment, the smallest type of memory card in the world is the microSD format, which is also developed by SanDisk.
New cards are also compatible with the format of Memory Stick PRO Duo. This requires a special adapter. This will allow you to use the M2 on compatible digital cameras and the Sony PlayStation Portable portable console.
The price recommended by SanDisk but 4 GB of Memory Stick Micro (M2) is $ 99.99, but one should expect that this cost will be somewhat higher in Russia.
